"As a naturopathy student I was always very interested in nature, as you can imagine. Nature is what gave us life and keeps us alive, we are part of nature. Nature is what keeps inspiring me for paintings.
I'm a Dutch, self-employed artist but I work in several places. I clean, I work in an organic shop and in a vegetarian restaurant. I have just finished my 5 year study in Naturopathy in the Netherlands. Before this study I focused a lot on painting and drawing. Now that my study is finished I feel this is what I want to focus on again. Ofcourse I never really stopped, I've done a few exhibitions during my study.
This painting is part of an exhibition last year called 'Birds'. The painting is of a bird called: 'Kookaburra'. An Australian bird which makes the sound of laughter. It's my personal favourite because of this. Laughter is such a healing thing for humans, as adults we often forget to be crazy and laugh like a child. This painting symbolizes that. "
