THE LEAP OF FAITH. I TRUST YOU.
So, I made and album, and then toured it! Thanks to that first crowdfunding campaign, and the 48 people who helped me fund it, I got my first album together, and my first tour. I DID go nationwide, and I even got a £5K grant from the Arts Council England to tour it and promote it. I'll let pictures tell that part of the story..
Alright, and now to the video...
There once was Stranger in the woods...
“Two strangers, a weathered traveller and a young girl, meet in an allegorical woodland. The compelling, almost romantic visuals, directed by Benjamin Britworth, reflect the unorthodox relationship of the two people, and how the older character, David, asks the young girl, Jenny, to ‘Write Him A Song’, as he tells about leaving the world behind.”
This folk style ballad, combines clear but understated vocals with a left of centre acoustic band sound, leaving the listener carried by the song and caught in the story."
That's the official blurb..
Here's the unofficial stuff: People often ask me 'Who is Jenny? Who is David?' and the answer is that I am both. In many senses, I feel I left my world behind, and the character of David is a vessel for those feelings, and for the combined stories of many people I met along the way.
This is one of the hardest songs to describe. It's allegorical, wistful, and somewhat nostalgic. From someone who left the world behind, and managed to find something of value! Some kind of peace! And yet wants to reach back out to the world that was left...'Jenny, would you write me a song...'

FRIENDS TO THE RESCUE! & Today's freebies!
The music was recorded by Jack Cookson is his house in Plymouth. The video? Well, a director, a friend of a friend, got in touch offering to collaborate on a video. And the man in the silks? After many near misses, Efren Prieto volunteered for the role!
All of us being busy professionals (well, them at least!!), we had ONE DAY scheduled for this project. If it rained? Well, that would be that. If we couldn't get hold of red silks and apparatus to strap it to a tree? Well, that would be that. If Efren had not had enough daring to climb the tree (look how tall it is!!!) with NO security, and set up and then deconstruct the silk apparatus? Well, that would have been that.
But thankfully, it all came together.
With this song, I recorded two more, and release a 3 track single called 'Write Me A Song'.
Here is your copy. For Free.

The other songs show how mixed my emotions were at the time. I was at the end of a relationship and wrote 'The Joy Of Defeat', for anyone who discovers the simple happiness that comes with leaving something toxic behind. No sarcasm, it's a real, bitter-sweet kind of feeling. Well I think so anyway.
And the other one, my darkest song ever 'The Presence', describes the kind of uncertainty I was facing when changing directions. How I wanted to give it all up! And to go forward into something I didn't know, and how this unbearable feeling 'The Presence' went with me everywhere. 'The Presence' is not featured ever again in my music, this is the only time this song comes up, and I rarely sing it, so grab it while you can!

After this was over, I was so humbled by the kindnesses shown to me via busking, crowdfunding, and all my friends pitching in to make this video happen, I wanted to give something back. So I did something radical. Look out for my next email!
P.s. There are only 100 real world copies of my 'Write Me A Song' single on CD with all 3 tracks. If you'd like a signed copy order one quick quick quick! And I'll post it out to you. Note, I will NOT be printing these ever again so you know, last chance and all that! X
